Absence and Time - Paperback

Infant Research between Psychoanalysis and Phenomenology and I think I am in Piazza del Duomo while in the studio I am sitting in my chair: "am I" in Piazza del Duomo? If I "dream" of being there while I am sleeping in my bed: in the dream, "am I" in Piazza del Duomo? Am I closer to my being in wakefulness or in the dream? These questions refer to the sense of being and therefore to ontology; to a being understood as other than simple, objective presence in a spatial point. The Author embarks on a journey starting from traditional psychoanalytic thought, passing through Infant Research, immersing in phenomenology and Heideggerian ontology to explore the ontological foundations of psychoanalysis. It is no longer sufficient to ask about the implicit epistemological referents that guide psychoanalytic knowing but it is necessary to go deeper to grasp the sense of being that we implicitly attribute to the analytical interaction. If we find the courage to descend into the abyss, we discover that the meaning of everything, every sense, arises from nothing or rather from absence. An absence in which we are unconsciously immersed and that existential, not symptomatological, anguish allows us to glimpse and use in grasping the sense of time and being. Being that, in its essence – following Heidegger – "is" time. What mental attitude can adhere to such ontological foundations? And therefore, what analysis technique is consistent with these premises? The Author traces a path that passes through Bionism and post-Bionism, adding concepts that intersect words like "freely floating attention" (Freud), "without memory and desire" (Bion), "Epoché" as suspension of judgment (Husserl), "absence" and, again, Ereignis, that is, the "event of being" (Heidegger) which must be able to flow witnessing the co-belonging of being and thought; thus thought that traces furrows in the field of being and directs us towards the other but also leads us into a clinical practice that becomes increasingly unknown… number of pages: 534 Author: Paolo Milanesi
