Description

The texts by Miller collected in this volume offer an explosive glimpse into the history of psychoanalysis, its politics, and its clinic. There are moments when history accelerates, as if sliding forward, and the juncture we are experiencing is one of these. Psychoanalysis, born in the last century and far from obsolete, shows a great capacity to respond to the social, political, and institutional context in which we find ourselves. It has indeed resonated with our era, producing modes of intervention that did not exist in Freud's time and would not have been conceivable even in Lacan's years, although these two masters laid the foundations for developments and consequences that we are only now able to draw. Different life practices—such as the fact that in Freud's time there were no jets or Skype—imply differences in how people relate to each other, and therefore also transform the practice and impact of psychoanalysis.

Campo freudiano anno zero indicates a time of restart, a new opening of horizons, another plane in which to situate psychoanalysis and make it interact with what today calls psychoanalysts into question on a terrain where they were already, perhaps without being able to articulate it: that of politics.
