This book is about exploration and explorers in an unknown territory: mental health. The explorers are six psychoanalysts equipped with theories and "field" experiences in psychic pathologies. They decide to embark on the exploration without objective measurement tools and without the intention of collecting scientific data. The method they will use is based on deep contact with their being, namely their "negative capability," their "epoché." They will try to set their minds in pre-reflective self-awareness. They organize a Device that involves meetings with healthy volunteers, that is, individuals who have never taken or are not taking psychotropic drugs and who have never been in psychotherapy. The explored area immediately appears "uncanny," some speak of a foggy clearing without boundaries or Wahnstimmung or pre-delirious anxiety…
