Death and Love for Life in Psychoanalysis - Paperback

In memory of Romano Biancoli The volume collects the Proceedings of the Conference “Death and Love for Life in Psychoanalysis. In memory of Romano Biancoli”, held in Ravenna on June 5 and 6, 2010, organized by OPIFeR (Organization of Italian Psychoanalysts. Federation and Register), the International Erich Fromm Society, and the AAPDP (American Academy of Psychoanalysis and Dynamic Psychiatry). The speakers' presentations are in both Italian and English. The Conference was held in memory of Romano Biancoli, a well-known and respected psychoanalyst from Ravenna in Italian and international psychoanalytic circles, exactly one year after his passing. He was an honorary member of the International Erich Fromm Society, whose president, Rainer Funk, executor of Fromm's work, honored the meeting with his presence. Eros and Thanatos, Love and Death, or, to put it in purely Frommian terms, Biophilia and Necrophilia, are classic themes in psychoanalytic research and narrative. The contributions, heterogeneous in content, varied and even eclectic, have a common thread that, while difficult to define, is clearly attributable to that branch of relational or interpersonal psychoanalysis which, on one hand, finds one of its most fervent pillars in the thought of Erich Fromm, and on the other, one of its highest expressions in the figure of Romano Biancoli. The works took place in an atmosphere of fervent and emotional participation in which, alongside purely scientific contributions, there were particularly touching memories and testimonies of the profound human dimension of the great humanist from Ravenna.
