Description

Meeting the Other in the Analysis Room. A Phenomenological Perspective In a time dominated by hyperconnection and emotional disconnection, fragmentation of thought and dematerialization of bodies, this book questions what remains of the subject. Who is the "I" that thinks, feels, loves, suffers? Where is the human subject located today, between the cracks of solitude and the real possibility of relationship? Traversing philosophy, psychoanalysis, physics, phenomenology, and poetry, this text offers a deep and multidisciplinary reflection on the ontology of the subject and the encounter with the other – a fragile meeting, never guaranteed, but essential to our existence. In the analysis room as in the world. Divided into two broad sections, the book retraces on one side the epistemological and ontological foundations of modernity, and on the other the clinical and poetic tension of the encounter between subjects: between the therapist and the patient, between the Self and the Other, between voice and silence. From the legacy of Heidegger and Merleau-Ponty to Bion and post-Bionism, from Wittgenstein to Hölderlin, from Derrida to Racamier, through transgenerational trauma, the emergence of the invisible, and the dissolution of the Cartesian ego, the volume is configured as an interrogative act that resists technical reductionism and the loss of meaning. A reflection that does not give up on seeking, in the heart of the crisis, an ethical, clinical, and poetic way to relearn how to meet the other. “The subject must be rethought not as a fixed point, but as an opening. It is there where being presents itself as possibility and as lack, as wound and as desire.” Number of pages: 212 Year of edition: 2025 Authors: PAOLO MILANESI
