Description

What happens when a wound refuses to heal? And what makes it possible for something in life to start moving again?

The author delves into trauma, transgenerational transmission, psychic memory, and repetition, but chooses to focus primarily on what can transform. At the heart of the book is the possibility that, alongside traumatic traces, vital resources, "traces of well-being," new forms of relationship with the body, with emotions, with creativity, and with reality, can re-emerge. The life that returns is not a return to what we were before.

It is a life that, after experiencing the wound, can find a new form. Through clinical experiences, micropsychoanalytic reflections, images, and poetic writings, the volume explores the transition from repetition to transformation and poses a decisive question: must what we inherit necessarily be transmitted in the same way? Gariglio shows how analytical work can open a space where the past loses its character of destiny and becomes the material for a new legacy.

A book about healing, but also about creativity. About memory, but also about the possibility of the future. About the wounds that inhabit us and those moments, often minimal and unexpected, in which something comes back to life. Because sometimes it is not just about going through trauma. It is about recognizing the moment when life returns.

The illustrations in the volume are by Albertina Bollati.
