“Alone and thoughtful, the most deserted fields I measure with slow and deliberate steps;....” These are the first two lines of the famous sonnet in which Francesco Petrarca poetically reveals his life in solitude and away from everyone, but with "Love" that always remains in his company. Guido Fabbri, with cultured irony, uses for the title of his Poetic Collection an opening with chosen words arranged respectfully using the Petrarchan expression separated, on the line of words, by ellipses to then write subsequently, as a complement, his precise expression: “...and I am not depressed.” Already with the title so originally composed, the author anticipates his life experience, undoubtedly connected with the world of emotions, but decidedly positive. Durante il viaggio dei suoi genitori sa Parigi a Cesena, il luogo delle loro famiglie, è stato messo al mondo - un presagio - a Bordighera nel 1933.
Da allora, infatti, ha continuato a viaggiare da città in città, da nazione in nazione frequentando collegi, scuole e Università e poi esercitando in Italia e all’Estero e sempre da dilettante, mestieri e professioni: facchino, barman, cameriere, agente di viaggio, traduttore, doppiatore, guida turistica, insegnante e imparando tra l’altro il francese, l’inglese, il tedesco, lo spagnolo e il greco parlato, oltre un po’ di russo e di cinese.
Ha pubblicato nel 2016 una raccolta di pensieri e considerazioni “Soltanto una tersa goccia nello stagno” (Youcanprint) e, nel tempo, qualche breve critica e/o commento intorno ad artisti, politica e culture.
È pensionato e oggi risiede a Roma dove ha vissuto saltuariamente sin dal 1941.
