For a Research Center in Psychoanalysis in a Collective Work. A Construction Together. - Paperback

**Acts du Seminaire 2017** This I-AEP Seminar opens a broad debate, initiated by the desire of some psychoanalysts scattered between Italy, France, and Belgium, to invite European psychoanalysts to engage in discussions on the themes of clinical practice and the theory of their common profession. *What is psychoanalysis?* Lacan asked on January 15, 1964, in front of the audience at the École Pratique des Hautes Études, initiating a new phase of his teaching and to *re-elaborate* the foundations of psychoanalysis starting from four constitutive Freudian concepts: *the unconscious, repetition, transference, drive*. To provide his answer to the question he himself had posed, he founded the École, an authoritative space for speech, something that, even if hindered by potential opponents, would achieve - precisely through contradiction - the objectivity of its authority. How can we proceed, today that psychoanalysis is being challenged with accusations of unscientificity, in a path capable of supporting the autonomy of psychoanalysis? Establishing an institutional space like a shared European Center as a possible place to obtain and update adequate training is a process capable of offering awareness and dignity to speech in an authoritative manner. Providing psychoanalysts who desire it with a workplace used collectively, where reference to their clinical and theoretical inquiries leads to the implicit construction of a place where research is animated by the encounter with the desire for participation and mutual listening. A place of secular practice, which does not involve the domination of another's experience but where the plurality of the method is embraced. Only through clinical practice, and its theoretical elaboration, can psychoanalysis consolidate the analytical encounter. Talking about training in psychoanalysis today is an act of courage: it involves understanding that psychoanalysis itself has been rejected, defeated, and that through open dialogue it is possible to build a common and recognized foundation for individual and collective training. We follow the Lacanian binomial of the dimension in psychoanalysis: *in extension* and *in intension*; “the *root* of the experience of the field of psychoanalysis placed in its *extension*, the only possible basis to motivate a School, is to be found in the psychoanalytic experience itself, () taken in *intension*”. This is the meaning of the new space and the renewed “act of psychoanalysis”.
