The volume collects the Proceedings of the Conference “Trauma and Identity in the Footsteps of Silvano Arieti,” held in Genoa on October 16 and 17, 2010, organized by OPIFeR (Organization of Italian Psychoanalysts. Federation and Register) and the AAPDP (American Academy of Psychoanalysis and Dynamic Psychiatry). The presentations by the speakers are in both Italian and English. Silvano Arieti (1914-1981) was a renowned Italian psychiatrist who played a crucial role in the renewal of Italian psychiatry and psychotherapy starting from the early 1960s. After graduating in Italy, he completed his training in the United States. Internationally known for his psychiatry manual and his studies on schizophrenia, he was among the proponents of introducing relational, psychotherapeutic, and psychosocial dimensions in patient treatment. He was also President of the AAPDP. His work is so rich in ideas for development that it remains an essential reference to this day. Marco Bacciagaluppi, Psicoanalista, già docente universitario, medico psichiatra. Fellow dell’American Academy of Psychoanalysis and Dinamic Psychiatry (AAIPDP), ha fondato Opifer ed è stato eletto primo Presidente. Membro onorario dell’International Erich Fromm Society (IEFS) e dell’Associazione Culturale Sandor Ferenczi (ACSF). Tra i suoi libri, Paradigmi in Psicoanalisi (ETS) e ha curato Il Seminario di Milano. Applicazioni cliniche della teoria dell’attaccamento di John Bowlby (Milano, Franco Angeli 2015). Allievo di Silvano Arieti, ha tradotto in italiano i suoi testi e ne ha divulgato il nome e le teorie. Autore di articoli in italiano e inglese sulla stampa scientifica specializzata.
