SEXUALITY IN CONTEMPORARY PSYCHOANALYSIS - Paperback

Theoretical and Clinical Aspects Contemporary developments in psychoanalytic science have strayed too far from the centrality of sexuality; Green gave a lecture in London with the significant title "Does Sexuality Have Anything to Do with Psychoanalysis?" (1995), in which he noted that references to sexuality in the discussion of clinical cases have significantly decreased and that the number of psychoanalytic writings specifically delving into (psycho)sexuality is intensely reduced. Maschietto wishes to start again from Green's concept that the drive is the matrix of the subject, but also an objectifying function, as the drive of love implies the existence of the object. Eros is linked with the object, creating peace and security, which are fundamental preconditions for pleasure. Sexuality can be considered as a force, with its vital or disturbing aspects, it is possible to see it in its defensive uses, and particularly in terms of its relationship with love and hate. Sexuality takes shape from the Oedipal configuration, from the basic dualism of the life drive and death drive, excited, inhibited, or modulated by what comes from the encounter with the object, and finally from the unconscious positioning concerning the primary scene. The Authors of the book, drawing from their significant clinical-theoretical experience, revisit together during two Study Days (June 10, 2023, September 16, 2023), in a free and original manner, the great themes of sexuality: from transvestism to the theme of homosexuality, from "beyond" gender to the imaginary scenes of sexuality, from the fluidity of adolescence to perversion as a lack of limit, from the role of sensoriality to the denial of castration, and finally from love to violence.
